Why changing the font is not enough
Kruti Dev 010 draws Hindi shapes in place of Latin letters. The document stores those Latin letters, so choosing Mangal on Kruti Dev text shows English characters and symbols instead of Hindi. The text itself has to be converted to Unicode.
Convert a document step by step
Save a copy of the original file first so you can compare the result.
- Open the document in Word and select the Kruti Dev text. Use Ctrl + A for the whole document.
- Copy it with Ctrl + C.
- Open the Kruti Dev to Unicode converter and paste the text into the input box. The conversion appears straight away.
- Copy the Unicode output.
- Back in Word, paste over the selected text with Paste Special → Keep Text Only so no Kruti Dev formatting comes with it.
- Select the pasted text and choose Mangal, Nirmala UI or another Unicode Devanagari font.
Check the result
Read headings, names and numbers carefully. Kruti Dev documents sometimes contain characters typed with another legacy font, or symbols used for decoration, and these may need manual correction.
The converter works on plain text, so tables, bold and other formatting are not carried over. For long formatted documents, convert one section or table cell at a time.
After converting
Unicode Hindi can be searched, spell-checked, copied to email or WhatsApp and opened on any modern device without installing Kruti Dev. If a form or office still requires Kruti Dev, keep your working copy in Unicode and convert back only for submission.
